View Full Version : Is it just me or does... Win 7 look snazzy on a 27" iMac?

OK so I loaded up Win 7 on my new 27" iMac under Bootcamp and for the love of god it looks amazing. Is it me or does Win 7 on a Mac look good?

Don't get me wrong I am loving OSX, but was shocked at how nice and pristine Windows looked on the Mac. It just glows!

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Maybe it's because there's no shiteware preloaded? Just Windows and nothing else like AOL, or Realplayer, or Google Toolbar, or some Roxio POS, or Norton Trial. No icons on the desktop, no gunk in the taskbar, no Start Menu clutter...

And, and don't forget the sexy iMac exterior.

Screen makes it look awesome. Has a simular, but lesser effect on my MBP :) Just need a PC mouse to use Win 7 in bootcamp. Got Fusion 3 so I'm hoping I'll never need to.

Anti Windows much?

My PC had none of that on it either, but I'm guessing its to do with the display rather than 'desktop items' etc.

I agree, it's refreshing not to have to uninstall all of that crap or see a million icons everywhere when I first install. I think that is part of the reason.

Same, my Windows 7 installs are base installs. ISOs downloaded from Microsoft Technet. There's always a smart ways of doing things and a idiotic way. Why do people always select the idiotic way for Windows? Could it be the user?

/oooh he didn't just go there... Yes I did :p

Because PC's aren't typically used with an IPS 27" display, especially on the consumer level. It does look great though, much better than my PC hooked into a 32" 1080p TV via HDMI.

I won't be using windows 7 that much on my bootcamp partition until apple can fix the problem of screen brightness being locked at a very high intensity.

Agreed. I hate topic titles like this one.

Sorry about the vague topic title... modified it to reflect better what it's regarding.

No, I'm not anti windows! I'm anti HP, Dell, Sony, etc. I actually think Win 7 is a nice OS, and I'm even considering Windows Phone 7. Running Win 7 without any junkware is like a breath of fresh air. Even moreso than stock OS X. Of course, once the software and files start piling on, OS X handles it better IMO.

Windows 7 is a very clean OS and when on the proper display looks stunning.

I too admit that I'm impressed - so far- with windows7..
I hear that 8mb of memory has little real benefits over the 4 when using Mac OSX, but is this the case when using it with Windows7?

Thanks,

Richard

(hope I'm not hi-jacking the thread)

Well ... 8mb of memory will have zero effect.

However, 8GB of memory will just be awesome.

Lulz.

4gb is plenty though for Windows 7 it runs like a dream on my MBP. I have 4 gigs of RAM in my desktop as well and it runs like a champ there too. I can only 8 gigs of RAM really helping if you do a lot of intensive work.

From what I have read, Parallels is the most full featured and fastest for running apps within OS X.
I prefer using Boot Camp to keep things separate.

Yes, it would for the first 2-3 weeks. Then it will get bogged down with ***** and the fog of sluggishness and all that other stuff that comes with Windows OSs.

Yes, I've sorta had a thing for WinBoxes after I went to my friends house and we couldn't use any of his 3 PCs because they all had seperate problems. The first was suffering from the blue screen of death, the second was overheating and the third was bogged down so much with Wincrap that it was no longer useable...

If there are not with these problems with Windows on a Mac, then the perfect combo has been found:D

Sorry, I can't believe I wrote mb and not gb or, even GB (!)

Too much Abbeydale Moonshine ( a UK 'real'beer -much needed after England's poor Rugby display against Scotland).

...Sorry...
