Hi there. I am looking at getting into iPhone & iPad dev, and I wanted to ask if there is any reason that I would not be able to use the late 2009 MacBook (the re-styled white) to do these tasks?.

I know the CPU and ram are up to it, but is the screen?.

Thanks.

What about the screen makes you think it might not be up to the task?

The iPad uses 1024 x 768, the MacBook has 1280 x 800 as a resolution.

According to support.apple.com, a mid/late 2009 model polycarbonate MacBook can drive a 1920 by 1200 external display.

Even if the resolution isn't ideal, that's what external monitors are for 🙂

I don't know where you got such a low resolution from, but:

http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html

... states:

Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

Yep, I have no doubts whatsoever about the capability of the MB to drive full HD screens, as I own a 2005 eMac & 2005 iBook, both of which can drive my 22" LG 1920x1080, so that's great, but I wanted to just confirm that I could develop on the move. Cool, thanks chaps!.
