Okay, so recently for my birthday, i got a Macbook Pro 15 Inch 2009 Unibody, and... I want to sell my iMac 20 inch 2.53ghz, 4 gigs ram 2008 model, for some money to upgrade my room. I bought an external 24inch monitor to go with my macbook pro. And im not really needing my iMac anymore... but my mom says that i will probaly need it later for something i cannot do on my laptop but i can on my imac? There is nothing that i cant do on my Macbook pro that i can do on my iMac...

What is your guy's decision? Should i sell or keep the iMac?

I think you should sell it and max out the MBP. IF you have a 24" ACD with the MBP then you won't need the iMac for anything really... Plus it'd give you the money to max out the specs and put a SSD in the MBP:D Unless your planning to use the money for something else...

I completely agree, i have no use in the imac.. but im using the money to upgrade stuff around my room, new desk, bed, and stuff

Now you definitely have a redundant iMac at your house. With the specs it has, you can get a lot of money for it.

Probably about $900?

Yep, sell the iMac. I wouldn't even spend on SSD and RAM, maybe on a faster HDD, if you have any speed or storage issues.

But get a display that supports the highest resolution of the MBP. I would also recommend Apple's basic wired numeric keyboard and a good mouse. Try the new Magic Mouse, you might like it, it supports multitouch!

I would count a new mouse and keyboard as upgrading a room. But then again I looked at other post by the OP and it seems like he already has the Apple keyboard with numeric pad and a bluetooth mighty mouse.
