BUSH 'TOOK COCAINE AT CAMP DAVID'

Sep 6 2004

And wife Laura liked dope, says book

By Emma Pryer

GEORGE W Bush snorted cocaine at Camp David, a new book claims.

His wife Laura also allegedly tried cannabis in her youth.

Author Kitty Kelley says in her biography The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty, that the US President first used coke at university in the mid-1960s.

She quotes his former sister-in-law Sharon Bush who claims: "Bush did coke at Camp David when his father was President, and not just once either."

Other acquaintances allege that as a 26-year-old National Guard, Bush "liked to sneak out back for a joint or into the bathroom for a line of cocaine".

Bush has admitted being an alcoholic but, asked during the 1999 election if he did drugs, he said: "I've told the American people that years ago I made some mistakes.

"I've learned from my mistakes and should I be fortunate enough to become president I will bring dignity and honour to the office."

Later an aide clarified his remarks saying Bush hadn't taken illegal drugs in the past 25 years.

Kelley says that the Bush family covered up scandals because of their wealth and influence. She claims George W started drinking at school and continued at Yale university to overcome shyness.

Former student Torbery George says in the book: "Poor Georgie. He couldn't relate to women unless he was loaded."

Another says: "He went out of his way to act crude. It's amazing someone you held in such low esteem later became president."

His supporters have slammed the allegations as outrageous.

The White House said: "This book appears to be filled with the same trash discredited years ago."

Well, though it certainly sounds plausible, I'll wait to see a confirmation from another source. (That site looks like a tabloid to me.)

Not that it'd make any difference in my vote. He could have been clean all his life and I'd still never vote for the little weasel.

Ya know I am sure bush did do some drugs in his Youth and maybe now, (who knows?) However I don't know about this source, and an Ex might be saying something to get back at the family. I'll wait and see if this is confirmed from another few sources before I go ahead and believe it.

LOL.. me either... Unless of course the cocaine did in fact fry his brain and had he not used it he would actually be an intelligent, decent human being!

but of course. this is the kind of thing which will probably forever be he-said/she-said. that's why i put the source in the title.

Oh my Lord! An unfounded allegation! We must immediately give it newsworthyness and perhaps form a group to highlight this. Cocaine Users for Truth comes to mind.

I don't really care if Bush used drugs. It doesn't make you unfit for office in my mind. It's just a distraction from those pesky issues.

i did feel a bit like a cheap whore posting it. but i figured it'd come up sooner or later, might as well have a place to comment about it.

Kitty Kelley has made lots of money doing unauthorized biographies of celebrities. This new book will give all kinds of new facts about the Bushes. I understand there is also something about Dubya and an abortion in the early seventies (when it was illegal in Texas) and some things on why Bush was sent on that famous sabbatical to Alabama (word is Daddy didn't like all the hard partying and drug use.) It will be interesting to see how the Media covers all the allegations in the book. Will they ignore them or will they actually investigate them and see how well supported they are? My bet is the "liberal" media takes a pass.

I believe there is something to these allegations. They would not be saying them if the allegations were not partly true, right?

Well you certainly can't disprove them, and that should be good enough for anyone.

Seems like we've ALL done drugs around here (except N*s*rk, of course :D ), so we'd better agree it's got no bearing on anything. Except the War on Drugs, of course.

'Well I didn't use the cocaine to get high, I just liked the way it smelled.'

or

'Yeah, I tried coke. But I never inhaled!'

Either would be an acceptable way to cop to what most people suspect. :p

while not admitting to anything, i'll say that of all the things i've done to which i'm not admitting were not done at camp david, nor at any place of work.

Yeah! What a smear campaign! And we all know, Republicans never use smear campaigns. I mean, it's not like they've questioned without proof the medals John Kerry was awarded for his service to this country. Or said that a vote for Kerry is a vote for terrorism.

Oh, wait.

:D Unfortunately I can't take credit for either of those. The first is from the Ray Wylie Hubbard song 'Conversation with the Devil'; and the second is of course a reference to Bill 'Slick Willy' Clinton's marijuana use.

(I read that in Reader's Digest.)
