Hi guys, I recenetly plan to buy the new iMAC with 17 inches LCD. There are two modes, one with 1.6Ghz G5 533FSB, and another is 1.8Ghz G5 600FSB+ DVD burner. I want to know what's the different between the G5 cpu 1.6Ghz and 1.8Ghz, is it only the 200Mhz difference or some new design in the 1.8Ghz?
I already have a DVD burner on my PC, so the DVD burner is not a very important option. I care about whether it is big difference between the two CPUs?

Thanks. :)

It’s 12,5% faster, nothing more. It has a faster clock speed and a faster bus, but there are no architectural differences.

Um.......*slowly does the math in his head*.......yeah, 200 MHz.

In terms of the iMac, there is also a faster bus speed, 533 mhz, compared to 600 mhz. If you wanted to know about the PMG5, there is a 100 Mhz bus speed difference, i.e. 800 vs 900 mhz. The only other difference is the CPU speeds, 200 mhz.

Hope this helps.
