A couple weeks ago i got the dreaded "Please Wait Very Low Battery" message..i let it sit on the usb charger for a day to see if that would help, it didn't. i then purchased a new battery on amazon thinking the battery finally gave way after 4 yrs of use. i install the new battery, ipod turns on :D then an hr later, i get the same "Please Wait Very Low Battery" message. is something draining the battery? or could it be another issue?

It works when plugged into the computer right? If it does there are programs that transfer the music from your iPod to your computer.

You might be out of luck. You dont have the music on your computer or backed up some where? Sounds like it might be the logic board.

Since your getting no power Im 99% sure its the logic board. Since you have all your music on it, I would buy a working 5th gen ipod off of ebay and put your hard drive in the working one to retrieve your music.
