built-in ethernet no longer apearing

ok my brother has an emac 1ghz 512 ram running panther, he just called me telling me that under network status buily-in ethernet is not there but if you go to the drop down under show it is and consequently his internet is not working any help would be much obliged

You need to turn on the built-in-ethernet in the 'Network Port Configurations' panel, then configure your IP in the specific tab, then make sure it's working in the overview tab. (visuals attached for her pleasure ;))
