Shuffle ReDesign coming next?

I'm not sure about any of you, but I definitely don't want to buy the current model of the Shuffle. I have my own great earbuds and don't want to have to wear the Apple ones when I use the Shuffle.

I personally hope that they evolve the older model in the Shuffle's next revision .. which I assume would be around September?

Adapters are awkward, cost money and get lost. And the Shuffle controls aren't great anyway -- you have to remember that next track is double click, previous track is triple click, the playlist menu is click twice and hold, etc. It's like morse code. (I don't remember what the actual click sequences are; this is just an example.)

The latest shuffle is amazingly small and looks great, but it's really not that nice to actually use. Hopefully the next version is more usable and, most importantly, works with standard headphones without adapters.

While I agree the "clean form" got in the way of usability with the latest generation, the learning curve to navigating around it is very easy. Took me about 3 minutes of messing with it to get it in my head. Really it makes sense: the clicks are in order of most popular use. Pause (use a lot), skip (use a fair amount), backwards (hardly ever use. Why would I want to hear what I just heard?)

Apple should just revert back to making the 2006-2008 model. I would love to see the sales figure of the latest model — talk about form over function.

the problem with them is that they get wet from sweat if you use to work out. Then the controls stop working for a few days.

I don't sweat very much but I stuck mine in a little silicon case in case it got rained on or I dropped it in a puddle whatever.

Anyway, my 2008 model stopped working with audiobooks last week (anyone any clue how to fix that btw? I've restored 100 times. Still works with music) so now I'm shuffleless until they release something better :(

I really liked the clip on and forget about it, easy controls thing so I keep looking at the new ones then just going "nope, not gonna work"

but back to the OP's actual question, is the shuffle refresh in June or September this year? Will it be a complete redesign or a superficial one that typically happens every second year?

I have no trouble remembering the functions, I use them all the time on my touch via the iphone headphones.

Also, how would you loose an adapter that you would keep in the jack at all times?:confused:
