Check the tracking number (http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?ascend_header=1&clienttype=dotcom&cntry_code=us&language=english&tracknumbers=687774344408)

Anyone else have their iPods ship from China? Is Apple out of them in California or something? Or for that matter, there is an Apple store just 15 minutes from my house that probably has plenty of iPods... so why China?!?!

I hope it survives the longer journey overseas ;)

They are constructed either at plants in China or Taiwan. They ship directly from the manufacturing plant. Chill.

Hopefully you didn't get a Podi (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=87897) by mistake. ;) :D

 I hope not!

Oh I know where a lot of electronics are manufactured... that doesn't mean they will ship directly from there. Everything I have ordered from Apple in the past has come from CA, so I was surprised to see the iPod coming directly from China.

So why didn't you just go down to that Apple Store and buy one?

Student discount + Cram & Jam promo.

Ah ok, did it take very long? See the reason I was a bit bummed about it was because since I live in CO, usually stuff from Apple in CA takes only 2 days tops. I was hoping to get the iPod by tomorrow for a roadtrip I'm taking this weekend, but I doubt that is going to happen now! Oh well...

Unfortunately, it probably won't arrive by tomorrow. :( It still has to go through all those other checkpoints (Anchorage?).

I got a BTO Powerbook. Does that help clarify? :)

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think you can get BTOs at their physical stores.

no. american kids are no good at assembling nikes or ipods.

i'm much more partial to having 7 year old chinese boys make my Cross Trainers.

They can do it much better as a matter of fact! Unfortunately, pesky federal laws keep our manufacturers from doing that, so they have to outsource to the inferior production facilities overseas. ;)

(Please don't flame me, I'm just kidding)
