More like the Royal Mail.

...make of that what you will.

Ha, sorry that's rather a stupid post of mine.

Just I feel the comparisons of Owl City to the Postal Service cast the skills of Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello in a rather ... unfavourable light.

I went to highschool with the girl that plays piano for them. She is amazingly talented, and a great person.

That being said, I can not stand listening to Owl City. They copied TPS's auto tuning only once it became "hip" and "cool", now they sound like a crappy version of The Postal Service, with completely uninspiring and juvenile lyrics.

But I understand how people could like them, I guess?

I would rather listen to the same old 12 or whatever Postal Service songs than hear all this new crap anyways.

I can see where the OP is coming from... Didn't even notice until you mentioned it. Interesting.

I had actually found the The Postal Service a year before and bought some songs from them.

While playing TTR3 today I played Owl City. Sounded nothing like TPS.

Owl City is one of those happy goody two shoes bands I just can't stand. They played at Sasquatch last year and they easily had the least attendance of any band there. My first roommate was in love with them, needless to say I quickly learned I couldn't stand him!

+1
Then I found out who they were... Everytime I went to the local supermarket I would hear the same song. Just shows how much they are played on commercial radio.

I'm glad the people in this thread can see sense.

Anything > Owl City
There, fixed that for you. Owl City is absolutely dispicable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3Z2MP8vMWU). At least, that's my opinion.

The pillock even thinks that his band is the evolution (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/arts/music/21owl.html?_r=2)of The Postal Service.

In the 3rd to last paragraph; of the Postal Service Adam Young said “There was really nothing to compare it to until some one else came along and wrote the next chapter. Maybe that’s this record. Maybe that’s this band.”

Thinks rather highly of himself, doesn’t he?

even his voice is similar to ben gibbards. it's crazy.

i dont hate it, but i dont love it either.

i felt the same way about the bands bright eyes and an angle. an angle sounds so much like bright eyes...the songs and the singer's voice (and even the backup singer's vocals).

Owl City is garbage. I can't understand how anybody would listen to this, much less buy it.
