Can I move a MBP hard drive to an iMac, without reinstalling OSX?

Hi, I am planning to move my SSD drive from my MBP into an iMac.

If i do this, will it boot, or will I need to format and reinstall everything?

(i understand its a 2.5" drive, that isn't an issue I have a caddy)

It will boot, but you should run updates after the first boot, so you get all the right drivers.

Thanks - so I did it but it doesn't boot, just hangs on the apple logo/grey screen on boot up.

Anyway to try and fix this or should I just boot from the disc and format the drive? Cheers

format i tried from my 17" mbp to my 27" imac it didn't work then either!
