Hey all...
My girlfriend only has her laptop ( a Thinkpad) here at the dorms, and since it has horrible sound from the speakers, she's been wanting to get a couple speakers for her setup. This is where I'm a little... behind in things. I have my PB and use it with my Sony Eggo headphones and it's perfect, and I have a pair of Apple pro's for my desktop... however I don't know anything about other computer speakers.
She's looking to not spend much at all, and while I know you get what you pay for, maybe people can reccommend a good sounding (full sounding) 2.1 speaker setup for around $20. And yes I am aware you can't get much for this, but she just needs something basic and she doesn't want to spend too much.
Thanks in advance~

they are a little more than $20, but Altec Lansing's ATP3's are great for their value, i highly doubt that you will be able to find any 2.1 sets for $20, you can get some JBLs that are just two desktop speakers that would work, depends on what type of quality you are looking for really, but 2.1 will cost more

Ahh sorry about that. Yea 2.1 isn't necessary, well I mean that the sub isn't necessary, just 2 speakers would be fine.
I'm not to concerned about the quality, just she doesn't want a real.... thin? shallow? feel to the sound.
*sigh* sound is hard to describe.

I'd guess your best bet would be eBay or Craigslist.
Of course, if you're feeling particularly nice, you could buy some speakers for her. :) My boyfriend just got a 6-piece Logitech speaker set for $36 (Amazon) ... the sound is excellent, he says.

No, you can go to Craigslist in a school's public computer lab. It's a perfectly good place to buy / sell things. You just shouldn't click on certain ... *ahem* ... links on Craigslist ... especially the ones that make you confirm you're "of age." :)

like i said in my original post, there are always cheap sets of two speakers to be found at places such as best buy, curcuit city, ect ect ect, if you are going with a set that lacks a sub, i would say a brand like JBL should deliver, one of the perks of going to best buy or someplace like that is that you can hear the sound before you buy, if not i guess i would say just trust a brand, Altec Lansing is my personal favorite, but there are others....
