Why does a DVD burn, say it's complete, then you click the icon and it's empty?

I tried burning some DVD's through Finder by dragging it. It goes through all the motions of burning-making that loud noise when in burns-and says it's complete. Then I click on the newly burned DVD's icon on the desktop, and the window show's empty...thanks

The bottom of the DVD even looks like it has material on it. That ring.
 
Can you make a screenshot?

Have you ejected the DVD and then inserted it again?

Have you looked at the Information window (CMD+I)?

Yes, I have ejected the disc then inserted it to play it. It says supported disc unavailable, or something like that.

I don't know what a screen shot is, or, CMD.
