Company I work in is very computer cracking (not hacking) paranoid. No wireless and all the computers, equipment, and even routes have fixed IP addresses assigned, and I was not getting any IP for my MacBook. :(
I suddenly realized that FireWire also allows networking! :D
I whipped out my 4-to-6 pin FW cable (used for Camcorder), plugged the 4 to the PeeCee and 6 to you-know-where.
Went into WinXP “Control Panel” -> “Network Connections”, turned it on,
checked to make sure FireWALL did not block that port, and
BAM, I had INTERNET (Angels singing!!) :D :D :D
Lucky I had WinXP, because MaxiShaft dropped FW network in Vista and 7. :)
The Mac instantly saw I had IP over the FW port, so I did not have to do a think on the MacBook, and it was so easy to turn on in WinXP I could have hugged Bill Gates! (EEEEeeeeewwwwww).
Man, I am glad MacBooks’ have FireWire! :apple:
Oh, wait…..
