Apple says you need the Mac OS X Boxed set. By you can use the Snow Leopard Upgrade disc. Its about US$100 cheaper.

What computer do you have? Click the blue Apple at the top and click "About this mac" and tell us what it says, as well as the Model number.

10.4.11 is a version of OS X, hence the name "OS ten". The later versions are OS X version 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard.

If your computer is capable of running something later than Tiger, you will have to buy the Retail discs for whatever OS you're wanting to install.

Do you have an intel machine?

If yes: get the Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not box set)
If no: The latest you can get is Leopard

Buy the Snow Leopard upgrade discs, works for me.

Did you have 10.5 before upgrae or 10.4 like myself. I missed the entire 10.5 system b/c I had a Mac mini

I thought that only goes from 10.5 to 10.6?
"Upgrade from Mac OS X Leopard with Snow Leopard, a simpler, more powerful, and more refined version of Mac OS X. "

It can do 10.4.11 to 10.6. Even if Apple says it can't.
