ok i have a windows partition with windows vista but it says its a trial version...

so i have an old windows computer and would like to clone it's hard drive and make it bootable onto my mac. I would put that clone onto my external hard drive and then put it onto a bootcamp partition.

is that possible?

also, it is possible to use a windows 7 upgrade onto a trial vista.

thanks in advance

Generally not worth it. What does work quite well, is using VMWare Converter to take a real machine to a VM, but going to Boot Camp is not generally effective since the hardware is massively different.

W7 upgrade will install fine without any previous OS installed. http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp
To be legit, you would have to have a previous license you are no longer using.
