So I just ordered a 27" iMac refurbished from the apple store. I will be upgrading from a 24" 2.4 GHz iMac. Should I be worried about all the returns for yellowing screens, etc of the iMacs? Have they fixed these issues yet? I have my old iMac backed up through time machine. Can I setup the 27" and check for flaws before restoring my time machine backup?

Thanks.

Some people have had issues even though Apple has tested the computers while others have not. Simply be aware of the problems some people have had with their screens. Test it when you receive it. Try the screen with a variety of applications, particularly in full screen mode. You can also try the gray bar test and with full width Safari and finder windows. You do not need to worry until you have a problem. If you do have an issue contact Apple immediately and express your concerns. They may offer an exchange or possibly a screen replacement. I do not know how they deal with refurbs. You might need to obtain a refund if all else fails.

Do I need to restore from time machine right when I turn the iMac on or can I wait to test everything out first and then restore. I would hate to restore close to 300 gb of data if there is something wrong with it.

What is the grey bar test?

You won't have to restore your time machine backup straight away, you can test it first then run the Migration Assistant later to transfer your files across.
As for the test I think it is within a topic within this forum.
