This confuses me, if you do a whois on apple.com with Internic it says:

Whois Server Version 1.3

Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

APPLE.COM.IS.THE.CHOICE.OF.ALL.SELF.RESPECTING.TERRORISTS.NET
APPLE.COM.IS.KRAD-NEAT.BUT.SO.IS.JIMPHILLIPS.ORG
APPLE.COM

To single out one record, look it up with "xxx", where xxx is one of the
of the records displayed above. If the records are the same, look them up
with "=xxx" to receive a full display for ea?ch record.

>>> Last update of whois database: Tue, 1 Jan 2002 05:15:30 EST <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

What it the bit about terrorists about:?

Ignore that. It's skript kiddie types who think they're funny putting out misleading DNS entries by exploiting a weird quirk in whois' name matching. I think there must be a reason it matches that way, but I've never figured out what that reason might be.

The note at the end of your whois response tells you how to handle it. Doing 'whois =apple.com' will return just the results for the apple.com domain.

For extra amusement, try doing whois microsoft.com.

It seems to be up and down all morning...

So many people heading to their site this morning to check out the teaser I think... Many people going to see if they can find any hints on the site as well... maybe last time on the Mac OS X page they put a teaser about new macs... people are looking for things like that...

Maybe we are crashing theit server...
