Things that i tried before posting.

1. I held down the power and the home button if thats what the one button is under the screen is.

2. I downloaded the Blackra1n and ran that and got no where.

You're going to need to do some reading and searching on this site, but the first thing you need to do is restore your phone in DFU mode (please see my sig for the link). Once you do that you can restore your phone and setup as new. Then you can start syncing your stuff, which will probably bring up new questions for you, but try searching first. If you want to jailbreak, that's a whole new set of questions, which can be addressed by searching the many how to threads on here.

I've found if you let go of the power button right after it goes black, it usually works.

Yep, once you get the hang of it its easy.
I had a friend spazzing out calling me every 2 minutes cause he couldnt get it into DFU and telling me its not possible.
Some people cannot follow directions 😀

Not sure i looks like its off it doesn't do anything, Sorry i'm new to the iphone i just have the itouch..

If it looks like it's off and you went thru the steps for DFU mode, then you're in DFU mode. It shouldn't be black to start the process (or at least it should show something). But after the `~8-10 seconds it should be black from then on. iTunes should recognize it after that.

I have a silly question I'm using my wire for the itouch does that matter the iphone is 3g does this require a different cable?
If not i think i'm screwed.

So i checked it over with co worker today that has an iphone and it looks like the plug on the bottom of the phone is damaged as if someone jammed in the plug the wrong way,Can this be repaired?

Thanks Jay..

Yes.
You can have the bottom plug replaced at a repair shop or have Apple replace the phone for $200
