Can't save Numbers as a .txt?

Where do I go to ask how to save Numbers as .txt? I have been dogpaddling around this site for the past 9 hours and so far I have used up a lot of hours that are unproductive.
Can anyone please direct me? This is my first time on the site and probably will be my last because I have no idea what to do!

you cant export as .txt in Numbers, but i quickly found a work-around. copy all your data in Numbers and paste into a new TextEdit document then select Make Plain Text from the Format menu.
