I was thinking of buying a new iMac, but it would replace my current computer monitor which also functions as the TV for my bedroom. Is there a device out there that can connect the iMac to my Verizon FiOS TV box?

What outputs does your TV box have? There is EyeTV which is very popular for watching TV on Macs so Google that as well

It has RF, composite, component, and HDMI. If I buy an EyeTV, can I still watch channels in HD?

You need this (http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-HDMI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-for-iMac-27-p-17934.html) or this (http://www.kanexlive.com/products/item.aspx?id=3662). EyeTV lets you watch TV through it but you can't use your Verizon box but that adapter lets you use your iMac as a monitor with resolution of up to 720p
