How much large are iPad apps or is App Store really slow

I've been downloading apps for the iPad and the download times are painfully slow.

I'm on a 20mbps connection so its not here. Are the apps larger or is it jus the glut of people hitting the app store?
 
The apps are obviously larger on the iPad. However, I think its just that the iTunes Servers are packed with so many people on them.
