iChat Runs, but won't chat

Hi I'm running a dual G4 500 with 10.3.5 and iChat 2.1 (v153) (InstantMessage framework v187). iChat opens fine and I can see all my buddies, but when I go to initiate a chat with them, I get the following error prompt:

NSInvalidArgumentException:
NSConcreteMutableAttributedString addAttribute:value:range:: nil value

The after a couple tries, iChat crashes.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Have you tried deleting the preferences files and rerunning?

Tried that last night, but it didn't work. Still getting the same error when I go to initiate a chat with someone.
