Sure, it would work, but...

The Remote app on the iPhone/iPod touch looks almost identical to the native music player, so I think they should do the same for iPad.

Similarly I'm wondering where the iPad-native iDisk and Gallery apps are. They look horrible scaled up on the iPad.

I hope they integrate Apple Remote into a revamped iPod app along with AirTunes streaming direct from the iPad and iTunes Sharing from other computers on your network.

Amen to this! If I can use the iPad as a giant remote for my entire music collection, sitting in my chair, listening to my hifi, I'm totally sold.
