eMac Burning = Slow

Is it normal that my eMac (Combo - drive, i think) only burns CDs at 4x speed? It takes ages! When it asks what speed I want to burn out, all options higher than 4x are blurred out. Is this normal?

damn - didn't notice that. These are 4x speed ones, but I had the same problem on a 48x speed CD-R
