for me these are #3 and #4...if neither of these are a keeper, they both go back and I will throw in the towel and wait till later this year.

one picture is called left.jpg, the other is right.jpg.

which of these two look better, if either one is worth keeping? Personally I think "right" is a fair bit better but I'm interested in others' opinions.

Honestly???

They look the same to me. They look fine.

Here is a picture of mine.

This is my second 27". I never had a problem with the tint like everyone else has. I've had noise problems with my 2TB and my optical drive.

Can you take a screen shot like I did? If you did do it why is it so dark?

Now that I look at it a little longer the right does look a little brighter.

What do your mum and dad think? I'd go by their decision. I assume you live at home with them, so they can judge better than us.

pics were taken at half brightness, which is what level i usually keep them at. full brightness washes out any difference and is way too bright for me.

natewsmith, is yours a new or refurb? your screen looks really good to me but again maybe that is at full brightness.

i'm not really trying to be nit-picky; Apple sent me the replacement before I sent back the original and so I ended up with both at the same time, hence a good opportunity for side-by-side comparison. just need to decide which one to send back, if not both!

Sir Cecil, enjoyed your comment...maybe instead of asking my mum and dad i should ask my kids! why would you think I live with my parents?

Why doesn't it look different?

I'd keep the one on the right. Looks less yellow to me.

*facepalm*. Screenshots don't show physical problems in the screen, only graphics output problems. If you were to take a screenshot of that window it would look exactly the same as his, or any other computer the screenshot is taken from unless there is a problem with the way the graphics card is outputting the picture. Anyway, the one on the right looks better, but both look fine.
