316091 Ella, about 10 yrs old
First decent picture I've ever had of her. She's so fat she just turns into a black smudge when I take her picture.

316090 Jasper, about 5 yrs old
She is very talkative and has chosen me as her sounding board. Awesome at 3am when she's standing on my chest and wants to have a chat.

He's supposed to be a Shih-Tzu, he's even AKC registered, but he's very broad shouldered and muscly, so I don't buy it. I tell my wife he's a "Pit-Tsu". He looked like a Shih-Tzu as a puppy (or an ewok):

There are far too many unwanted animals in desperate need on the streets because pet owners don't get their pets spayed or neutered.

I ordered my terrarium from Amazon. (Petco has stuff too). A company called Exo-Terra makes really nice ones. It literally comes with everything you need (except for the light bulb, and possibly a heating mat depending on the temperature of your house.)

You can really use almost any type of aquarium and put a screen over top and save some money but I wanted mine to look nice so I got this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Exo-Terra-Lanka-Rainforest-Terrarium/dp/B004OHPTEC/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329980645&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Again though as long as you have a tank, a lamp, and screen to go over the tank (since they need ventilation) you can house them. Of course there is substrate too which is usually coconut fiber and runs about $3 - $4 a brick. I only used one brick and had a bunch left over.

To keep it humid I did a mixture of things, Its cool in my apartment so I bought an under tank heater (the Rainforest Heatwave by exoterra, its the only one I found that is safe for frog tanks) and I spritz water in their tank two to three times per day.

They really are awesome little guys, I highly recommend getting them. http://www.floridaherps.com had the best prices I found and you can order babies or adults.

Their food is dirt cheap, simply buy crickets for roughly 14 cents per bag which should last a week easy with 2 or 3 frogs.

ok so the most expensive thing is probably the terrarium  I guess ill go to petco and ask some questions and stuff but you pretty much answered everything....

Yep that was the priciest. For these frogs its good to find one that is taller than it is wider since they love to climb.

You can probably put together your own package for much cheaper with this:

-Aquarium (no extras, just the tank)
-Brick of coconut fiber $4
-Aquarium toys/fake plants (varies in price, online is much cheaper for these)
-Lamp (some people just use a regular lamp but you can get an amphibian one for ~$15
-Water conditioner (for amphibians) $5

Do you use fake plants? Is the only difference that they last forever?

Do you use fake plants? Is the only difference that they last forever?

I use fake. Although you can use real you have to be careful. All real plants first need to be referenced to make sure they're not poisonous to the type of frog you get. The frog won't eat the plant but the crickets you feed him will.

Also you have to very thoroughly wash the plants to ensure there are no pesticides. Frogs get their water by absorbing it through their skin so sitting on a wet plant that still has traces of pesticide can harm or kill them.

Also there generally isn't enough light in the tank for real plants. People do it successfully, but most recommend fake plants.

Fox Terrier, the same breed as Snowy in Tintin (if you have read the comics or seen the movie). They are very cute, but also full of energy and stubborn. You have to take care of them (as in play and walk them, preferably twice a day) or they will make you regret it ;) However they love to cuddle, so that kind of balances out. :)

our two cats:
on the left: "Susi", born 1989-90 don't remember i was only 6-7 at that time, we got her together with her big black lion like brother(who sadly disapeared)...my mother couldn't resist to take her .. she was a very small kitten and very 'people friendly'... even today she as a very small cat and loves to jump on the laps of strangers who visit our house for the first time...and she brought back lots of mice and even rats who where nearly half her size...

on the right: "Maxi",born 1992 he is actually Susi's 'grandson'..his black mother (the one kitten we kept from Susi kids) disapeard as well after he was born ...
he is more 'grumpy' but still likes to play from time to time ... he eats a lot and is whining a lot if he is hungry... last year he nearly lost his left eye completly to a tumor ..he got better and kept the eye but he doesn't see much with it ...(he is able to catch mice,so it seems to work)

I'll have to post some whenever I find where my camera gear went. Its somewhere packed away during my move (I just moved to a new city).

They're getting much bigger!

It does suck feeding them live crickets but I'm used to it now. I make it fair though, the crickets have plenty of hiding spots and i place food for the crickets randomly throughout the tank so the frogs can't camp the cricket food.

I also don't see them eat the crickets since they only come out at night.

You like frogs?

342189

Frogs are one of my favorite animals, and I'm not allergic to them. I like birds too. Lineolated parrots are awesome as they'll lower their heads and run along branches. They're quite fun to watch.

It would still bother me, but I'm going to think on it. It's also likely that I'd have to drop them off with someone if I went out of town. I don't know if it's easy to transport them or if the temperature needs to be vigorously maintained within the terrarium. Frogs can apparently live relatively long lives. It's cool that they'll walk on your hand.

We PCS'd from Alaska to North/Central California about 2 years ago. She was heading for the Animal Shelter. A vet tech that was married to an Airforce guy here rescued her, but was ready to give her up with the impending birth of their second child. Which turned out to be total bollux. I have no idea why they let her go, but I am thankful. She is an amazing pooch and friend. She is a bit demanding when it comes to attention. She will braw and stuff herself into the most contoured of spaces to let me know I have not given her the alloted time she demands in a day for affection.
She is protective to a fault, affectionate of my kids, even a bit mothering at times and a unrequited sun baby that loves to bask on my couch in my home office while I ply away looking for work in a place that IT is in a sad state of affairs.
I will post some more pics when I get time. :D

This is Rahne, one of the two border collies in the family.

She apparently wasn't pleased with how long it was taking me to replace the liner in "her" pool, so she scooted a box over to the wall and took a peek. Then she jumped in, apparently to directly supervise.

Border collie micromanagement, gotta love it. :D

After my trip to Kona, Hawai'i a few years back (absolutely beautiful part of the world, btw), I happened upon this awesome shephard mix at my local rescue. I immediately went to meet him at the foster family's home, took him home that day, and appropriately named him Kona.

We've been best buds ever since.

These are pictures of two kittens that our mommy cat had a few months ago.
The thing is, I came to Shanghai to finish my BA degree right BEFORE she had the kittens, so I still have not met these two little runts.

I skype my family all the time, and while we are skyping I can hear these two wrestling in the background all the time :)

Its so cute.

[EDIT]
The mommy, Hermoine, had 5 kittens but apparently my sister gave half of them away.
