Very nice looking pictures maradong. What is the name of your Rhodesian Ridgeback? What age?

I love dogs, they are just like family. I'm impressed at how well the dog allowed the pictures to be taken. Mine are scared of a camera and try to hide away and shake.

OMFG! Not mine, but my firends sisters cat ....
It KNEW if you were a man, would constanty follow me around, purr, rub my legs, then roll on the ground moaning. The cat would only stop screaming if a man was inside, then go through the who song and dance routine starting with following you. Now that I think about it, it was kinda like having an Anna Nicole around.

LMFAO!!!!!OMG! My cat Psyka (Pictured above) rolls all over everything moaning like crazy! Psyka constantly screams too, it's very funny, but gets annoying at 3 in the morning when I'm trying to sleep!!!

Looks like a kitten in the picture. Must have been seeking the warmth and security that a mother would provide. Still cute. ;)

With all of us pet lovers here, I just want to say that I am in tears right right now watching Dateline. Just finished watching the story of strangers trying to survive. One wa a guy that swan thru the much with his three dogs.

Even though my Chewey is with a new family, it brought back memories of what I would have done for him.

With that I wanted to post two links for relief agencies that are trying to help the four legged friends too:

http://www.noahswish.com/

http://www.petco.com/Content/Content.aspx?PC=petcofoundationhome&Nav=11&cm_ven=email&cm_cat=don&cm_pla=083005&cm_ite=katrina&CMReferringUrl=

With so many in need I know that it is hard to choose where to send your help. All I can say is that my sister and I have decided that we would not do travel this weekend that we planned on. And I have decided that eating out is no longer an option, with so many going hungry. That extra money saved will find its way to my choices of the Red Cross and Noah's Wish.

My Puppy that I just got on August 20!

Congrats!

Based on the picture they look like one that truly has found a home they can count on as their own.

Give the love and attention your pup deserves, and I promise you will get ten fold!

(An aside. Give your pup daily massages. It will help the two of you bond together. You should massage every part of their body. Focus on the paws, eras, and muzzle areas. This will make it easier for the vet and groomers to work with your pup).

The other big thing is getting your pup "socialized". This means taking them to stores like Petco or Petsmart - or the dog park (if you have one near you).

Here's a two year old picture of our newest addition...Zelll.

Zelll was a local "Rescue". He had been injured by a (probably illegal) animal leg trap, and this pic was taken right after we adopted him, which was around a week after his leg amputation surgery:

http://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2003/zelll/zelll_window-l.jpg

His name comes from the town in Germany along the Mosel River, which is renown for its "Black Cat" Reisling wine...modified to 3 "L's"...one for each leg.

We've always kept our cats inside, but we do allow them to get some "fresh air" time out in our back yard (fully fenced in) on the weekend. Over the years, its gotten to the point where we've trusted them enough to not require constant supervision, but to just check up on them every ~15 minutes or so, to see if anyone wants to come in, etc.

We've never had a problem with it, until two weeks ago. Our 3 legged monster is the first cat who's learned how to climb up & over the 6ft tall fence and "escape". He knows he's not supposed to do it, but he's now grounded anyway...and boy is he royally miffed about it. Tough.

First up we have my Degus - Foggy. He loves to be tickled and stroked, but for some strange reason only whilst in his cage. He hates coming out of it preferring to stay in there at all times.

Next is my brothers Rat - Marmite. The complete opposite to Foggy, she loves being out of her cage and is generally found crawling around the house or hitching a ride on my brothers shoulder.

I recently got another cat. I had to take on my mother's 13-ish old cat because of allergies, and he's slowly adjusting to a new life with our other cats. Funnily enough he seems to mimic Shiva's sleeping positions... :D

Shiva (in usual positions):

Here is my Peachface - 15 years old and still full of life. He is very tame, comes out daily for attention and to fly around the house!

You will probably notice he is missing some feathers around his neck. A few years ago, the family went on a holiday for 2 weeks and he was left with a friend who also has peachfaces.

Apparently the bird started to fret and unfortunately plucked his feathers out. They have never grown back.

All in all, a great bird, that even goes to sleep in your hands - upside down on his back with legs straight up in the air!!

LOL. He just seems to get that disappointed look on his face whenever we make him do something he's not thrilled about. I think that he thinks he is in trouble when we make him sit still so that we can be entertained at his expense. :p

Ceaser, our dog. We don't currently have any cats, but over my 17 years we have had a few cats. One died when I was 10 and was a 20 year old cat, the other died when I was 13 and was 14 years old. The last cat we had, was only 5 years old and had gotten sick. All Simease. As you can see two of them were pretty old cats. We haven't gotten any more cats since then but we are looking for a good simease kitten.

The dogs are great and the cat is crazy! Norman barks at SUVs, Vans, and Trucks non-stop when he goes on a car ride while Einstein sleeps in the back seat. The cat does whatever he wants and will only show himself if he's either A) Hungry, B) Wants to be pet, or C) Wants to go outside. These guys are great! :D

Need to remember to take a pic of my sisters Rot'. Taz is the most kind and precious Rot' that one could find.

My sister credits me in finding him at the PG animal shelter when my sister was on the look out for a new member to her family. I just note it after my dog, Chewey, I knew some basics to look for.

I really need to take a pic of the stupid look that Taz has with his tongue hanging straight out - looking for love an affection.

My sister got Taz as "protection" after her home invasion. In my mind, only concern that Taz has for an intruder is that the intruder would be licked to death.

no, actually as a pup everyone thought so. we got her from the humane society, so we're not positive.. but we think lab + american bull dog. the pictures don't show it well, but you can see her "stockyness" in real life real well. she's a cutie though. :)

I don't think that's a Snapping Turtle. It looks like the Painted Turtle, which used to be the common pet. However, there is a concern over salmonella being carried by them, so captivity for pets is outlawed. That doesn't mean you can't have one for 'research' though. :D

It is a snapper; three ridges on its back, claws on its feet, pointed beak, and one heck of an appetite for guppies! His neck reaches halfway across his back when he stretches it out. Also in Florida there are no regulations concerning snappers in captivity, however alligator snappers are protected by law. I will be moving him into the pond out back once he gets big enough to crunch off my fingers!

Say hi to Barnes and Noble. They are two TN Map Turtles. They say "zup, ya'll". They are making calling noises lately with their little throats which, as I understand, are part of their mating vocalizations. When they were given to us, they were smaller than a half dollar in diameter. Now, they're several half dollars in diameter. :)

Wow, I posted in this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=1067074#post1067074) almost 2 years ago. Back then we had 2 cats, a mouse, and had just gotten our first pug (Bruno, also my avatar). We still have 4 pets, but the cast of players has changed. Since the thread is still somewhat active, I might as well give an update.

First, the bad news. The mouse (Squirt) and one of the cats (Kinder) have passed on. We'll miss them both dearly.

About 4 months ago, we rescued a yellow lab named Sasha. As all labs do, she loves water and fetching. So our trip to the beach a few weeks ago was great fun for her.

http://members.byond.com/MikeH/files/beach_0041_s1.jpg (http://members.byond.com/MikeH/files/beach_0041.jpg) http://members.byond.com/MikeH/files/beach_0043_s1.jpg (http://members.byond.com/MikeH/files/beach_0043.jpg)

Oliver is our newest addition to the family, and our second black pug. We got him from a rescue just under 2 weeks ago.

Here, Bruno and Oliver are sharing a bed:

And here's the whole pack:

Jasmine is still with us, and was recently the inspiration for a little sign I made with the help of CafePress (http://www.cafepress.com/). Her litterbox is in the hall closet, which is accessible to her via a kitty door. I decided it would be fun to make a little sign for it:

I emailed my brother who's a herp biologist. He thinks it's a Mud or Musk Turtle. Neither of us see the pointed nose or high ridges on the back. Mud turtles have a long neck as well.

Do a Google Image search of all three and do some comparisons and let me know what you think. :) There's lots of sites that help identify out there.

Well, my lucky friend, you may be one of the only of earth's inhabitants to see a hatchling FLORIDA snapper, not to be confused with the common snapper found in most of the rest of the U.S.:) I did my research, although I already know snappers ( we go way back...) and there are no laws concerning FLORIDA snappers in captivity due to them being extremely common in FLORIDA.
And I would like to re-state the facts in this case, the baby snapper came to my back door and was waiting to come inside when I stepped out... he heard about my freshwater tanks, I guess. I said, "come on in, we have plenty of room!"

The high school where I teach has little brown mice running around the ceiling. It's an open type ceiling, where you can see them run across the I Beams and lights and stuff. I think they're kind of cute, but not many other people do.

Here are some recent photos taken from my W810i in 2MP, yet resized on another site I posted a few weeks back. (my wife took them whilst I slept)

This is Felix, my parent's cat. I watch after him every time they are on holidays. He's a quite old Gentleman by now, has long white hair and a slightly overhanging tooth. He's quite lazy, unless a neighbour's cat is in our garden and he sees them from his window seat. He's very skittish - one day he will drop dead when scared from his own shadow. :D

http://www.klf.de/ebay/woody1.jpg

This is our cat, Clint Eastwood (or just Woody), when we got him one year ago. He's 18 months now, and quite high-spirited sometimes.

http://www.klf.de/ebay/woody2.jpg

A more recent picture of Woody in his favourite position - yawning at the camera. ;)

Taking a nap with Figaro, who is the "old" cat of my now wife. That one can cuddle you to death, trust me. :D

http://www.klf.de/ebay/woody4.jpg

Woody is quite a patient cat with whom you can do just about anything. Like pulling a blanket over him while he's sleeping. Oh, and he likes to be carried around on your shoulders. However, if you don't get up in the morning on time (at least when HE thinks it's time to), he starts nibbling your nose and ears. :p

This is Dakota relaxing before Christmas.

We picked him up from the Humane Society a few years back. He was dropped off because he is blind, but that doesn't slow him down. He loves to herd (as long as he can hear it), and he will play fetch until he is so tired he can't walk.

Oh and in case you were wondering, Dakota would like to point out that he is not a reindeer

Viktor, Viktor Kade, from VK, from Visitor Kitty, came to our apartment several years ago. He frequented any friendly family home. When I paid a $400 hospital bill he became ours. Very sweet, very talkative, but not a lap cat at all...until tonight. This is the first time he really crawled into my lap. He stayed about fifteen minutes until the other cats got jealous. He will lean on my leg on the bed at night, but no closer.

The black and white in the previous photo (Oreo) came from our shelter a couple of years ago. He was already six months or so. In the past year he has become a lap cat.

BTW we bought ourselves a digital camera for Christmas. So I won't be posting camera phone pics anymore.

Seems like my mother's old cat (on the right), that had to move in with us some time ago, and my cat, Shiva, has calmed down after being really scared from days with heavy fireworks around the house, and has almost found some sort of comfort in each other's company (though I'm sure they get back to the usual bickering soon enough ;)).

Glad everyone has enjoyed him as much as I do. He does have quite a bit of spunk! That's cool if you move the thread.

Aside from the occasional "I'm going to gallop off / buck / rear up with ya" moment, he's actually a pretty good "pet" haha.

This is Rosie, a refurbished unit I picked up at the track last weekend. She seems to be gradually adjusting to the idea of retirement.

That's such an awesome picture. My dog had a bone like that, but I ended up having to cut it in half because he couldn't easily get it between doors. It'd hit one side or the other, almost knocking him to the ground. :)
