For the last 2+ years any phone with its own OS has had ways of downloading from a PC for ringtones/BT as well. Hardly news, although as all phones shift to have their own OSs and new features I guess the multibillion dollar ringtone market will shrink.

Good grief the ringtone market is ridiculous. I guess it shows how you can make a profit selling vanity. In this case vanity regarding the most "unique" or hip cell phone ring. I am curious how many people buy one and then never again. I bought one and then realized how silly it was. Maybe it is a younger crowd running up their parents bill or gadget crazy asia.

I create my own and email them to my phone. I'm sure there is no one in the world with the same ring tones i have. HA HA HA!!! :D

I love my V600. Being able to edit and use any mp3 as a ringtone is great. I made non-annoying ringtones and awesome* ringtones depending on the situation. If you're a creative fella, having a phone that open to your tinkering kicks major arse.

*annoying and crappy.

hehe, I use to create my own ring tones, transfer via Bluetooth and voila, I have never bought a ring tone, for me, if I can do it, why buy it? I have had from the beatles to some strange korean music... it really surprise people when my phone rings... ;) ... right now, I have the soundtrack of Monster's Inc... :p for general calls and other titles for work and home calls.

I'll be very interested how the new Motorola/iTunes phone deals with the ring tones market. I see it going one of two ways:
1. You'll be able to use ANY iTunes track as a ring tone, or
2. Ring tones will become part of the DRM, and Apple will have a separate ringtones section available on iTMS that will feature "ring tone versions" of popular songs.

Option No. 2 gives the record labels more chance to capture licensing revenue. If you want "Oops I Did It Again" as your ring tone, Apple/Motorola can capture a dollar more than if you could use the version you already bought. If Apple/Motorola goes this route, I expect the ring tone versions of songs will be different in some way than the full versions.

My friend's phone "moo"s like a cow when someone phones him.

When I get a new mobile, mine is going to "baaaaa" like a sheep! :D
