If I understand correctly, the retail boxed Intel X-25M SSDs include a 3.5" mounting bracket. Will that work in the drive sleds of a 2009 Mac Pro, or do I need something else like an Icy Dock MB882SP?

I could be wrong, I have a 2008 MP with an IcyDock bay, but the Intel adapter that it comes with is not suited for the Mac Pro because it places the plugs for the drive in the center, rather than on the left side.

The IcyDock was around $30 ish shipped IIRC. This one is cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Startech-BRACKET25-Hard-Drive-Adapter/dp/B00008VF4A

Also I guess here's an article on it, http://blog.ramsesmoya.com/files/How_add_configure_SSD_2_Mac_Pro_w_Snow_Leopard.php

I just got an Intel X25. I also got the Maxupgrades sled that makes MacPro mounting a breeze.

In retrospect, should have ordered both from Maxupgrades.

I know it ends up being cheaper with maxupgrades
