I have to decide between two viewsonic moitors

The 17" inch VX715 (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx715/)
or
The 19" VX900 (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx900/)

The screen specs are very similar (except the 2"),
same resolution and response time.
The vx900 would cost me about $80 more
The concern i have is that the vx900 was introduced almost two years ago,
and the vx715 is only a few months old.
Has the LCD technology become much better the last years?

My eyesight is good, and i have no problems with using the powerbook screen (which is about 105 dpi i think)
I figured out that the 19" has about 86dpi and the 17" 95dpi resolution.
Is 1280x1024 going to look ugly and large on a 19"??

Is there any reason why i should pick on over another?

Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased the VX 715 and love it. I can't help you with the comparison, but I can tell you that the 1280x1024 on the 715 is sharp and bright. This is the first LCD I have ever purchased for a desktop and I don't think I'm ever going back to CRTs. If you have anymore specific questions about the VX 715, let me know.

Well if the resolution is the same on both the 17" and 19" models, doesn't that mean that the pixels are spread out a bit more on the 19" model?

I'd get the 17" model.

1280x1024 looks quite nice on a 17" screen, and very large on a 19" screen. though on the 19 things are still nice and clear (they don't look spread out, just large). if all the other specs are the same (response time, viewing angle, etc...), go for the 19". if not, stick with the newer 17" (assuming that would be the one with the better specs).

in my experience 1280x is about perfect on a 4:3 17"er. on a 19" it just seems not necessarily too big, just uncomfortable

I'll put my vote in for the 17" as well. LCD tech has moved on a lot in the past 2 years (contrast ratio, response times etc), and as others have said, 1280x1024 looks huge on a 19", 17-18" is just right for 1280x1024.

Duff-Man says...I run two 17" lcd's, both at 1280x1024 and I find it ideal...for me the same res on a 19" would look too big...go for the 17"....oh yeah!
