So I'm trying to see if I can fix my friends iPod. He said it was acting slow so he went ahead and rebooted (Holding Menu + Select)...After it came back on, it showed that there were no songs. On the iPod, if you go to settings > About...it shows 57.9 GB Used and 16.3 GB Free and on the bar graph display, its basically saying all the used up space is in the 'Other' category. He doesn't have a specific computer to get his music back. I guess he just got all his music from different friends iTunes Library's.

Is there anyway to get this music back. I'm guessing its still on the iPod somewhere since its showing the 57.9 GB being Used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing he used the iPod in Disk Mode, which is different from the standard iPod "OS." Try seeing if anything shows up when you plug in the iPod and boot it in disc mode.

ok i have done that. but what exactly do i do? should i quit iTunes once it opens up? or let it open? will my iTunes sync with his iPod leading to his songs being deleted and then my library appear on his iPod?
