I've been reading all the posts on the corrupt screens and the other problems of the 27 inch imac. This made me think about waiting until a refresh. I will just like to post that i received a imac the other day, (i5) and i see no problems with it at all. I have it hung up on the wall and it looks amazing. So to all those people that are hesitating because of complaints, if you need to buy you should...:D:D:D:D:rolleyes::apple:

Congrats OP! I'm glad you're enjoying your purchase!
I bought mine a while ago (December) and some problems have developed over time. But I never had the screen yellowing, mostly all LED bleeding and loudness.

Anyway, I'm getting it replaced now, and I'm hoping to get a good one like yours . Again, congrats, and I hope you enjoy it.

What's a funboy? What does that make you, a no-funboy? :p

Congratulations, OP. Keep in mind a lot of the negativity written in here is by killjoys who never even bought a 27" iMac.

Enjoy it!

......

Apparently I complain too much, according to some, didn't move on. Also didn't buy a Mac yet, which gives, what? A partypooper?

Perhaps it's that some folks are wondering why you and others complain so much about a product you never even tried?

Oh, I tried it all right, several of them, just didn't buy it (only to return it a few days later) and want to be honest about it (my mistake??).
The 27" iMac is a beautiful machine and I still hope Apple will solve the problem, but for now, like it or not, the elephant is still in the room...

Dunno how anyone can properly evaluate anything after just a few days of usage. So many people in the world are so quick to judge before thinking things out. I've had 'friends' judge me just because of hearsay, generalizing blacks and black culture...not all blacks like fried chicken or eat watermelon. Same thing with Macs. Just because you think iMacs have issues doesn't mean that everyone else has the same view or experience. Not everyone is having the same experience you are. One person's issues (or even several or hundreds) doesn't represent the whole user experience.

I still don't know why people try to force themselves to like something they obviously don't like.

If you've never owned one for more than a few days, you actually never owned one, IMO.

I've never thought of you as an elephant, Tom. :p

Congratulations, yet another "Perfect iMac" thread has been visited by the peanut gallery.

Well, maybe someone tried an iMac and didn't like it. I've got no problems with that, but why post ad nauseam negativity to user forums, even in threads where someone is trying to share their own great experiences?

Surely, there are better ways to waste one's time.

Congratulations guys, I too am hoping to get an i5 in the coming months and my wife was complaining about the size until I mentioned wall mounting the mac and she softened to that idea. So please MacRuler would it be possible to see a pic of your setup?

That 'desk' is about a foot deep (EDIT: or maybe 18"). I don't know how you can stand being that close to such a big screen.

Anyway, I ordered a iMac i7 last week, and I was reading a webcomic, and this one is totally me:

It's sad how true that picture actually is.
I've been literally checking 5 times a day to track my replacement iMac.
And now it's 30 minutes away from me and I have to wait until Wednesday to get it. 30 MINUTES. It's just FedEx playing it mean.

I have some "slight" yellowing on the entire right-side of my screen, it is very slight. The real problem I have is, it's not as bad because I'm using a different color profile. The default iMac color profile leaves the screen so yellow (where you can tell the grays on windows look yellow-toned instead of clean like on the MBP.)

I've found 2 dead pixels, but it seems the dot pitch is so fine (small) that you can't tell unless you scour the screen for them with a white background. I have noticed the top-back to be so hot at times, it feels like it would nearly burn your hand. I'm unsure if this is normal or not for the newer 21.5" (high-end one). I have 7 days left to exchange mine, and I'm on the fence right now, because honestly? I don't want to end up getting one that's worse! and you know how it is, reinstalling everything. lol

The one thing bothering me, is my WiFi cuts out all the time, and I have to turn airport off then on again for it to work. This seems to be the result of the 10.6.3 update. Still haven't gotten any confirmation yet, though I've heard others are experiencing this. Otherwise, this alone will make me exchange it.
