How can i reduce the depth (20.7cm) of the 27"iMac? I have a small desk with only 70cm depth and im afraid that i will be sitting too close to the huge 27"iMac display that im about to purchase.

I don't see how you could! get a wider desk and push it back further if you feel cramped

Wall-mounting will help (you can mount it to a wall and still gain some room since the iMac stand is so deep).

sorry for being rude, but if you can afford a new iMac, why not a bigger desk?

I must see pictures! This is getting too funny. Can you mount an arm left right or above the window?

Uhm...move the desk??? Better yet, buy a new one...a proper one. Even better, mount the arm to the left or right of the window. The fact that your desk is in front of a window mean nothing, really.

Really, you've quite a few options here.

I don't think there's anything you can physically do to the machine to reduce it's depth. The only thing I could suggest is hanging it up, but as you mentioned there's a widow in front of it. So, I guess your two choices are move your desk somewhere else and hang it, or invest in a new desk? I'd recommend ikea.

Time to go to the lumber yard with some wood glue.

Take your iMac to someone with a thicknesser and run it through that. Should shave lots of space out of it.

In all seriousness, I am joking. If you're stupid enough to do that then...

Move the desk and or get a deeper one, or mount it on an arm.
The only space you'll save is from getting rid of the stand it comes on.

Corner desks usually have more depth.
I have one and I don't think a normal desk would work for me.

70cm depth = ~27.5inches. that's more than enough to have an imac on your desk. you should have another 10 or so inches of free space on your desk to place the keyboard and mouse (unless it has a slide-out keyboard tray which should give you even more distance).
