isn't it not recommended to have your powerbook screen closed while the computer is powered on?

I never figured out how to get my Rev a 12" to stay "awake" with the lid closed. I was under the impression that it couldn't, evidently I was wrong?

I asked the Apple store guy... That's what he told me. I tend to believe it's a bad idea because of heat.

On a second note... I must be blind. I don't even see a mouse in the pics.

Wake it up by plugging in a USB peripheral. Or unplugging one, can be sometimes very annoying...

The way i do it is to close my lid and then plug my external monitor in. this wakes up the computer and then it only detects my external monitor.--however for heat reasons i dont run it like this for too long

HEAT ISSUES?

Is it really bad to run the powerbook closed, and any bluetooth device (mouse or keyboard) will allow the powerbook to wake and run closed. How much of a risk am I running?

Logitech MX900 BlueTooth Wireless Mouse.

Crap... I looked at that picture for several minutes and still couldn't find the mouse. It looked like a speaker to me.

Well... I wouldn't recommend it for extended periods of time. When I mentioned it to the Apple store dude... He commented about a lot of the heat being vented through the keyboard. This seems to be true with my 12" PB. Therefore, I run it with the lid open. I use spanning with my PB being the second screen. It won't look as nice as your setup, but it might save your PB from heat issues. Please note that I live in Phoenix. So... My house is hotter than yours during the summer ~78 degrees F.

I've been coveting the FX6021's for awhile; now. Apple charges some ridiculous price of $299+tax.
I know they can be had for around $200.
I'm waiting for it to go down to $150 or so before I take the plunge ...

Very nice.

I like the look of the desk as well - where is it from ?

I believe its the studio RTA ellipse...I got it from bestbuy for around 120 dollars. The stand for the printer and tower are interchangable.

What's the matter? Couldn't afford a 30"?

Setup looks cool 😀 😀 , but I'd be worried about the lifespan of the powerbook. It wasn't designed to be running with the monitor closed. They are wired so that the monitor cannot be on when the laptop is closed. Like the aforementioned post, some heat is dissapated through the keyboard since the two vents on the back are relatively small. I'd be worried about damaging the screen first of all, and maybe over heating the rest of the comp. That's what I was told by appletechs, when I was trying to figure out how to run it like that. Has anybody had problems with this, or heard of anyone? 😕 😕

God i'm jealous of that setup 😀
