Hi,

I'm getting ready to but the imac i5 this week, I know a lot of you have said not to buy the additional 4 mg ram from Apple, buy it from outside, but looking at the Apple imac page it says to buy 8mg of ram costs an additional $200. Isn't that a good price to go from 4 to 8mg ram??? Any other advice you can give this first time mac buyer??

Thanks!

You could get 4GB from a decent third party for less (macsales.com has it for $127.99 with a lifetime warranty), but you would get the extra assurance of having everything covered by Apple if you buy from them. Apple has been getting more competitive with their RAM pricing of late, so it's no longer insane to buy from them.
