Sought to purchase powerbook for two years, finally apprehended one from my university a few weeks ago. Already an avid Apple user....but I've already noticed some hardware problems. The screen-to-CPU module seems to be defective; when I change the position of the screen, either opening or closing, the joint emits a creaking sound, similar to that of a unoiled hinge being opened. Can I oil the joint?

Also, the strip of metal above the CD slot is pertrudding a bit. Problem? Or am I simply being a hardware perfectionist due to such high appreciation for the computer?

Everything else is fine. Oh, except I originally received a DOA: the LCD backlight was not operational.
