I know that it is not customary to start a thread without yourself having a picture to contribute, but there is not a seperate Workstation or Furniture realted forum, so I decided to simply post a thread on the Gallery section.

I would like to purchase and setup my own workstation amd was intersted in what others on the forum have bought and setup for their workstations, including, computer desks, hutches, bookshelves and chairs.

I have the Cobham Mesh Executive Chair
It's a little on the pricey side at about 160 but it's hella comfy. :)

That is a nice chair. I also like the fact that it looks like it's multi-adjustable, which is what I am looking for.

Bought a HAG Capiso 8107 in black nappa leather a year ago.
I know it looks really awkward, but it is the best I've ever sat on!
A little pricy (about 1000+ in europe) but worth the money for people who have to sit the whole day at their desk.

Desk? Ikea :p Imo there is no reason to invest really much into a desk, as long as it fits your size, there isn't even a reason for it being hight adjustable.

Wow... I've never seen a chair like that before. It's so weird it looks cool. I bet it sits really well though.

Yeah, the tilt on it can be insanely comfy if you have it all the way back, especially for gaming. It's even comfy enough to sleep in. :)

That is probably closer to what I am looking for. I like that design the best. I may have to stop by Office Depot or something so I can sit in one first just to make sure the back is high enough for me.

Aeron chairs are not comfortable at all. They are only for look.I beg to differ. I have lower back problems, and I was never comfortable working in my home office until I finally sprung for an Aeron. Wish my workplace had them, because I never have any discomfort sitting in my Aeron all day. They take getting used to, because they feel different than a normal chair.

If you are uncomfortable sitting in an Aeron, then you likely didn't get it properly adjusted for you. Did you try reading through the manual about the adjustments (it can be downloaded). It's worth taking some time to get them right for you.

I've got a RealSpace Soho mesh back chair from Office Depot.

It's very comfortable, though not for bare legs... definitely not shorts-friendly unless you put a towel on it.

It's got an odd, geared back recliner. When you lean back, the back goes about twice as far as the seat bottom. An odd but very comfortable arrangement.

Have Fun,
Keri

Tell me one thing, how did his aeron chair made your back more comfortable? I think you are just following the bandwagon. Aeron chair does not improve your back in any certain ways.

I have the Aeron as well. I can tell you first hand its a great chair. I don't think he was saying it improved his back - I think he is saying unlike other chairs it didn't agitate his back. After sitting on a foam/cardboard chair (that is still very expensive) all day at work, I can appreciate the fact that the pellicle weave doesn't have any pressure points. Sort of like a tempurpedic (sp?) mattress, it supports you all over. I don't think its a bandwagon. Its a well built superior chair. No rattles, solid construction, comfortable, and adjustments galore. All hallmarks of a great chair. Nuff said...

Oh and in the spirit of the thread, here is a (not so stellar) iphone pic of mine. Aeron, Tuxedo Pellicle, Fully Adjustable model.

When I sit in most office chairs my lower back hurts after a few hours. I do not have that problem with the Aeron. I have the same problem with cars. With most cars drivers seats my back hurts after a couple hours driving. With my last two cars they don't.

And to address your final comment, who said it improves your back. I didn't.

I think I would say the same thing if I spent $>350 more on this chair. This does doesn't prevent you from back pain or help in any way. It looks nice and that's about it.

No modern office chair here, also because it would not integrate too well with the rest of the furniture in the living room. :p

Another Aeron lover here....I have one at work and home....had the one at work for years...went through a bunch of cheap junkers at home and finally splurged (much cheaper than retail from ebay) a couple years ago....best chair for extended sitting I've ever had.

There was an Aeron as an auction item at a campus fundraiser while I was a marketing intern. I knew nothing about Aerons at all, but I sat in the chair, and instantly fell in love. I was in the market for a new chair, so I asked where they got it. They told me it was an Aeron, and that they run $700+, and that in no way will my income from my measly internship afford a quality chair such as that. Throughout the event I would sit in the chair and just quiver in happiness.

I have something sorta like this:
http://site.unbeatablesale.com/img001/hibaexlechb6.jpg

It was made by novimex (says the label on the bottom), and I got it at either OfficeMax or Staples (I can't remember, except there was a rebate they never gave me for it -_-).

When I first got the chair, I was upset at the lack of rebate because it made it a $120 chair. Thing is, that was about 7 years ago (maybe 8?) and despite the leather getting worn out and the seat cushion not being as cushy as it used to be, the chair is still more comfortable than anything my familymates have purchased otherwise (mostly manager's chairs that cost $50-60).

I can't complain, because I went through a bunch of desk chairs before that - the kind with the separate back that's attached to the bottom with an L shaped piece of metal always broke at the screw and then started digging into the seat because I like sitting back. I had an exec chair too before that, and it broke at the arms because the idiots that made it didn't put metal inside the plastic arms and the back weighed a ton!

Odd, even the cheapest $30 'leather' chairs you can get at CVS have metal reinforcements in them! Those are actually pretty well built for $30, lol.

That said, it does look sorta beat up but everyone likes my chair and I just haven't felt the need to replace it. Hehe. I wish I could afford an Aeron chair, but that's just way out of my budget. Perhaps when I'm an engineer!

My tables are even older, I think I purchased them in 2002 - StudioRTA made them way back then (I know, right?!) and I have yet to see that kind of build quality in anything they've made since then.

http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/SR/SR1033_l.jpg

The glass is a wonderful 5/8" thick variety that weighs a ton, and the tables are specced to hold 80lbs (I know, not a ton, but still pretty good).

The blue ones you see in my other setup pics sometimes are also made by StudioRTA (I have those in my vacation house ;)), and they aren't nearly as good - a bit too small and nowhere near as comfortable to sit at IMHO, on the other hand they look cool and the build quality is still decent. I suppose I should've said I just didn't care about the materials lol.

I have an IMG "large" windsor chair. It actually reclines (like a lazy boy) and the pillow for the head can be adjusted. It is the best combination of office chair and lounger I was able to find. I listen to headphones in the room quite a bit, so the chair is perfect for my needs:

My desk is a "Bush SERIES C:RIGHT L-BOW DESK". I needed somthing to hold my 42 inch HDTV that did not get in the way of the closet door, have room for my headphone stuff, and still be able to work when needed. I have the 25.5 inch monitor up on an Ergotron MX LCD Mount.

The chair is as comfy as it looks. We went out to buy a coffee table and I came home with the chair instead. :D

I actually have the Nintendo hooked up to the 42 inch display. I still love those old games!! The setup also has an HDMI feed from my living room system, so I can use the monitors with the PS3 (works nicely thanks to blutooth) or AppleTV (use my iPad as the controller).

I actually considered getting an open design style of desk, but with all the cables I have running to the receivers, speakers, monitors, etc...I thought it might look like a rat's nest.

but in a black color. Took a little bit to adjust to my sitting position, but once I figured it out, it is a very comfortable chair for the home office.
