Installed Perian, how do I view my movies?

Ok, I hacked my appletv using atv usb creator. I installed perian. How do I get my movies to show up? I have a bunch of avi files that I created reference .mov files for and put them in itunes. They play in itunes fine, but aren't showing up on appletv??

can anyone help??? I was under the impression that as long as you can get perian installed then you can watch whatever content is on your itunes whether it was created with a reference file or not... but I can't get the files to show up under "my movies"???
