FileVault and SSD Boot Disk

I recently ordered an SSD, and before install as an OS/app only disk -- the following thought crossed my mind: If FileVault requires 2x the home directory, where is this written?

If written to the SSD, this could mean I've undersized it and I would also be concerned about high write cycles.

Does anyone know in actuality how this would work, and what the appropriate workaround would be?

Edit to add: It is my understanding from Applecare that FileVault is an encrypted disk image that is mounted when you login.
