I'm sure most of you have seen Kodawarisan's disassembly of the iMac G5. I have a couple quesitons regarding them:

1. What's that grey plastic thingy to the left of the ports? Bluetooth module? The Airport antenna is supposed to be somewhere else.

2. The larger fan at the top of the motherboard, is that for the GPU? I noticed that it's a quite a bit further up from the GPU?

3. Finally, who/what is "Broadcom"? On Kodawarisan's site seems to suggest that it's the GPU, but shouldn't it be Nvidia?

Just do a search for 'broadcom' in google. The Results should answer your questions.

They seem to do a bunch of stuff: bluetooth, 802.11, and wired networking.

so which is it?

and where is the GPU???

Broadcom is a semiconductor manufacturer. Their semiconductors are used in several areas.

I have no idea where the GPU is, but I would assume it is under one of those fans, since the CPU and memory are located elsewhere.
