Transfer analogue camcorder footage to iMac

I know there is a similar thread but I didn't want to hijack that persons thread.

I have a Hi8 samsung camcorder with an S-Video connection and i'm hoping that there is some way of connecting it to my iMac to transfer the footage and possibly burn it to a DVD.

There is also an A/V lead with RCA connections which connect onto a scart adapter for plugging in to the TV for copying onto video tapes.

If you can make sure that it works with Mac OS X, sure why not. I haven't found any confirmation yet, so I can't give you any confirmation.

Maybe you get an Elgato or Dazzle product on eBay?

I transferred some tapes for a friend by using another friend's Digital8 camcorder...which allowed me to export the video via FireWire.

Is there anyway you can get your hands on a Digital8 camcorder?

Afraid not. No one I know has a digital camcorder :(
