I have a question I posted in another thread but I'll post it again here to cover my bases...
Would my new iMac (which finally got shipped) run faster with 2 x 512 chips running in dual channel or with 1 512 stick and 1 gb chip?

It all depends on what you are going to do with it. 512MB is OK, 1GB would be the best to aim for, unless you are doing heavy photoshop or video work. The most cost effective option would be for two 512MB chips. If you tell us what you plan to use the computer for we will be able to give you better guidance.

well it would run better with 1.5gb ram than 1 gb...
but i have heard its better to run the new imacs with dual channel so better than to have 2x512 than a single 1gb

The iMac doesn't support dual channel. What it can do is make the memory access (or something like that, can't remember the technicalities) 128-bit if you have matching pairs (2x256, 2x512, 2x1024  ). Otherwise it's 64-bit.
