New computer... how do I get my stuff on it?

Ahoy,

So, I finally picked up my new 15" MacBook Pro from the hell hole that is UPS and now I'm trying to get all of my music, apps, movies, from my old desktop, to this new laptop. I have both an iPhone and an iPad and I figured it would be as easy as connecting both of those to the Pro then synching them - I though that their contents would then be copied over to the Pro - but no such luck.

Is there anyway to do this other than setting up a shared drive or using an external hdd? Thanks!

Load everything onto the iPhone, then transfer it to the new machine with an awesome program called Senuti. :)
