Whats the diff between stereo, dual stereo, and joint stereo? I only ask b/c some of my songs in my library differ between these 3 versions. Which is the best to have in terms of quality? :confused:

not sure but i think it has to do with signal processing. you have the true signal (stereo) and after it is processed it has been enhanced. kinda like that fake surround sound some TVs can produce. i may be way off...

Stay away from joint stereo!
Joint setero is that the files is mono on the lower freqs and stereo on the higher freqs. On low quialit hardware you won't hear any diffrence, but if you have a decent stereo or an ipod stay away from it..

It's an encoding issue, stereo MP3 (or AAC) files are single file header systems that decode to a stereo signal, dual stereo are twin files intermodulated in the encoding, and are ofetn seen as two seperate files (L and R) joint stereo is what you get after a night on the skunk.....

They're just different file-types, they all do the same thing in the end.

hmm i have some jazz songs in joint stereo and they sound really good on my ipod, they are encoded at 160 kbps and above though :rolleyes:
