Hi,

I have seen postings stating that the Applecare Protection Plan can be purchased within 1 year of the hardware purchase. If this is true, can I buy a computer at a retailer and purchase the Applecare at the Apple Store with an Education discount? Thanks for your help.

Yes you can Purchase Applecare anytime within the original One Year Warrenty period. It dosen't matter that you don't buy your machine direct from Apple you just have to purchase it from an Authorised Apple Reseler. Then you just go to the Apple Store For Education and purchase the AppleCare through them. Easy and Smart.
