If you check out this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=90654) thread, you'll understand my motivation for wanting to do this trade. The quick reason is to get a 128 bit memory bus in my iMac G5.
Right now I have two 512MB DIMMS, one is the Micron/Crucial DIMM from Apple, and the other is a Crucial/Micron DIMM that I bought from an online retailer. As explained in the thread above, the 2 chips are not identical enough to enable the 128 bit bus, so I'd like to swap one of the two chips.
If you are in the same situation as me (and I'm sure there have got to be people out there who are) we can trade RAM chips so both of us will get 128 bit buses. Or, if you are a nice iMac G5 owner who is willing to give up their 1 Apple 512MB DIMM for my Crucial 512MB DIMM that would work too. So here are the two possible trades:
1) I send you my Apple DIMM (which is DDR400/PC3200, 512MB, made by Micron with a CAS latency of 3, and has little memory chips on both sides) in exchange for your Crucial DIMM (which is DDR400/PC3200, 512MB, made by Micron with a CAS latency of 3, and has little memory chips on only one side).
2) I send you my Crucial DIMM (which is DDR400/PC3200, 512MB, made by Micron with a CAS latency of 3, and has little memory chips on only one side) in exchange for your Apple DIMM (which is DDR400/PC3200, 512MB, made by Micron with a CAS latency of 3, and has little memory chips on both sides).
Let me know if you have any questions, and send me an email or a private message if you are interested in trading.
edit: I would also be willing to sell the Apple DIMM in order to buy another one from Crucial, but I'll only accept offers that are very close to what the chip sells for new, so I can just buy another matching Crucial chip without adding more than a few dollars.
