How much faster are the new MBPs over last year's models?

On Apple's web site it says for the MBP: "The new Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors boost performance up to 50 percent over the previous generation."

Now here are the specs for the fastest 15" 2010 model:
2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB Memory
500GB hard drive
$2,199.00 (new)

Here are the specs for the fastest 15" 2009 model:
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
500GB hard drive
$2,039.00 (refurbished)

Is the 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 supposed to be a lot faster than the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo? Because it's only $160 more than a refurbed 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo.

You answered your own question bud. 50% increase in computing performance is AWESOME! This is a HUGE jump in performance. from 2007-2010 there's only been SMALL bumps in performance- in 3 years!!! The new MBP is a BIG LEAP in performance! 2.66 i7!! DO IT!

Ha, are you being sarcastic? I can't tell. Note that Apple said "up to 50 percent".

Unfortunately they do not include the 3.06GHz Core2Duo in their benchmarks.
 
My i5 2.4G can continuously work on 2.66G dual core.
I suppose i7 should be able to work on 3.06G dual core continuously.
