Can I use my unlocked iPhone in the UK?

Hi, at the end of the year I will be leaving to the UK for university, and I was wondering if I will be able to just get a SIM card there and use it with my unlocked iPhone?

unlocking allows you to use the phone on any GSM network. That's the main reason people buy or use unlocked phones.
