Whew...

Maybe I can sleep now... :) I know it won't change a whole lot without iCal, but it's an update, you know? Once you know it's out there...you just gotta have it! :)

My display is fine on my original 5gb iPod, yet it has been blinking "Do Not Disconnect" for 20 minutes now after I ran the updater. Is it auto-leveling the volumes of the songs on it?

**edit** it's supposed to blink that when it's plugged in to the computer. Jeez, how dumb am I?

D'oh! My iPod's away at Apple being 'cared for' and they won't have it back to me for a week at least!

I WANT IT NOW!

vCal

Did you know that you can export the datebook out of palm desktop as a vcal and put it in the ipod's calender folder. It works.. no need to wait for ical...

ipod update

All good!

Just d/l'ed the 1.2 and its fine, NO problems at all.
I would suggest that those who do have issues should do a full restore, then upload all their songs again.

Clock is useful, calendar is OK, presumably will do more when ical gets going.

The game? Well, something has to be crappy, I guess! LOL!

I kind of preferred it when it was hidden - it made me feel intelligent when I found it - oh well.

iPod 1.2 for System X only?!

the only updater I can find is a .dmg file (system X file!?) - won't open in system 9.2. Bummer. Anyone find a .img or .bin file for system 9?
I'm not ready to convert to X quite yet - computer too slow, work doesn't support darn! I realy wanted all of the additional functionality....

thanks for the tip! So I have everything functioning now, Contacts, Clock, and Calendar.

Still the most important features are the Audible.com and Sound Check features for me with playing by Genre a distant third.

Cool... I updated my iPod (original 5GB model) and did see that the clock wasn't set. Since I have been having some Murphy's, I hadn't gone too far into the settings and such (a few ~16ozers will make ya happy :D). Now the clock on my iPod is set... :D

Next up will probably putting my phone book into it... although the list of numbers is rather short at the moment.

Same goes for Entourage. But it's even easier. Just open the iPod's Calendar folder and bring Entourage to the front. Then start dragging events from the Entourage Calendar to the folder!

Hey, I just let it sit for about 3 hours thinking to myself, "Why is it taking so long to update." (I was watching a movie on tv though, I wouldn't have just staired at it for 3 hours :) ) They should have mentioned this new "feature".

So to answer your question, you are just as dumb as I am... probably less dumb, because you stopped after 20 min.

Thanks for the post. It is easy. Anybody know if you can set the clock to display always?

loss of musical freedom

has anyone else noticed that apple is slowly taking away our freedoms with the music we have stored on the iPod? Since iTunes 3 I have no longer been able to burn CDs straight from my iPod and after iPod Update 1.2 I can no longer play music off my iPod through my computer. WTF IS GOING ON!? I can't even take music on my iPod and put it back on my HD. Is it just me or does anyone else think we're going to start getting the short end of the stick in this digital media war?

i used to make playlists on my computer with songs from my ipod and burn them, and playing a song off the ipod was as simple as going to the ipod source in itunes and finding the song i wanted. i dont think youve ever been able to transfer from ipod to HD (but you should is my point, I had to format, and I had all my music backed up on ipod only to find out u can't transfer to prevent stealing music). so who knows how to switch back to itunes 2? i dont need this spyware (top rated songs, rating system, wtf?) ruining my computer. btw, did anyone experience the ipod freezing for long periods of time in OS X before update 1.2? I managed to score a new ipod thanks to this software bug which product specialists determined to be a malfunctioning ipod (yes please give me a rev.b with no scratches :D)
